the
game

You and your group will be given materials to go on a puzzle-based quest through Greenwich Village. Think of it as a cross between an escape room, a treasure hunt, a walking tour, and a murder mystery! Along the way, you will learn about some of the real stories of the haunted places you pass. All game materials are non-digital - no need for phones!
-
The game is for players ages 12+.
Players who are younger than 18 must be part of a group that includes a parent or guardian (an underage player with an 18 year-old friend-as-guardian is not allowed).
Some players, no matter their age, may find some of the details of the real hauntings of NYC scary or disturbing (think of the game as a light PG-13 rating).
-
The game will start and end near Washington Square Park. The exact meeting location will be sent to you after your ticket purchase.
-
The entire game takes place outside and you’ll be walking so -
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Bring an umbrella, in case of light rain.
Check the weather and bring a jacket if you might get cold!
You do NOT use a phone to play, so no need for extra battery packs, etc.
-
Play time will last ~2 hours.
Players will be given a tracking device so that we can follow your progress and help when needed.
-
The game is between 1.5-2 miles of walking, or 5000 steps.
-
For wheelchairs - yes.
Everywhere except one location that the game leads is outside and on public sidewalks, so the game is wheelchair accessible. For the one location that is inside, there is a wheelchair ramp. If the location is closed, the puzzle is still solvable but wheelchair users may have a harder time. If a non-wheelchair user is playing with them, they will be able to help search.
For the Deaf community - yes, mostly.
Deaf players will be able to play the entire game, but there will be moments of sound that are missed. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, please contact us at least 2-3 days before your reservation so we can prepare a modified experience for you.
For those with color-blindness - some of the puzzles may be a little more difficult for you, but they are still solvable.
For the visually impaired - no.
Unfortunately at this time, the game is not designed for visually-impaired players. We are working on this for future game ideas.
If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us before purchasing tickets.
-
Since the entire game takes place outside, well-behaved pets can technically accompany you. But dogs may find the actors in the game scary - so only bring them if you are very confident in your ability to control them.
Babies and children up to age 11 cannot join you on the game, as they may find some of the storytelling and actor interactions too scary. Think of the game’s rating as light PG-13.
-
No, the game is designed for everyone - New Yorkers and non-New Yorkers!
The game will include a map to guide you where to go.
-
Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village - home to New York University - are considered safe during the day and early-to-mid-evening. Relatively common interactions include people asking for money/help and you may see people taking drugs in the park. But it is very rare for anyone to approach violently, as is the case in most US cities. These are very well-lit and populated neighborhoods, with people always near by to call for help if you do feel in any danger.
That said, like all of New York City, things can happen - which is why we do not allow single players. Since part of your focus will be on the game materials, we want to make sure you always have someone else with you to keep an eye on the world around you too.
-
The actors are always happy to receive your additional thanks at the end of the game - but not tipping will not be seen as rude : )
